Eminem has been sentenced to two years' probation and fined $2,500. Under Antonio
Viviano's sentence Marshall Mathers will have to stay out of trouble for two
years, abstain from excessive alcohol consumption and from possessing weapons, submit to
drug tests and seek counselling. If any of these rules are violated he could face five
years in prison. He was also ordered to pay $5,000 court costs.
In February (2001) he admitted carrying a concealed weapon outside a nightclub in Detroit.
Prosecuters agreed to drop an assault charge against him. He admitted carrying the weapon
in June last year (2000) outside a Detriot nightclub when he saw a man kissing his
wife. The weapon was not loaded and was concealed in his car.
He could have faced up to five years in prison. The plea was lodged under advisement which
means that Eminem can withdraw his guilty plea and fight the charge.
