Just Enough Education To Perform (J.E.E.P.) is the third album from the
Stereophonics.
Kelly Jones said, of the album, "Probably before we tended to freeze up a little bit
in the studio, but this time round we said, fuck it, if it sounds good it sounds good, and it
stays on the record. The only plan I had was to be a lot freer, to be more relaxed."
The album begins with the rock riff-based Vegas Two Times. Following is the melodic
Lying In The Sun. The first single, Mr Writer is a stab at music journalists:
"Are you so lonely/You don't even know me/But you like to stone me/Mr Writer/Why don't you
tell it like it is?"
J.E.E.P. contains a quite a few acoustic tracks, some slower stuff. Different to how
the album began. Tracks like Step On My Old Size Nines, great melody. Following is
Have A Nice Day with its un-Stereophonics intro but, again, a great melody.
Watch Them Fly Sundays begins as a slow rock ballad.
The album is not full of the big guitars Stereophonics fans are used to. This isn't the
bands' country album like some people have said. It's more acoustic. Good album.
