In an interview with music magazine Mojo Collections, Sir Paul McCartney said that
he is a fan of Eminem, describing his lyrics as "only showbiz".
Sir Paul compared the controversy surrounding Eminem to his own teenage years when
Elvis Presley's dancing outraged some people.
He said that his favourite track by the rapper was Stan. "I liked it that Elton
did it with him at that Grammys thing, because he was suspected to be homophobic. So I guess
that put that down. Which is good because it is only showbiz. It's good to remember that,
otherwise you start thinking 'what the f**k's happening in the world, man?"
When Sir Paul heard his son playing records with lyrics such as "slap my bitch" he
was concerned about their content but his son told him that it was only a song, "It reminded
you that we had all of that with rock'n'roll - Elvis isn't trying to s*** anyone, he's just
moving his hips. All our parents went 'oh, the state of him'. We never saw it until they said
it. I think it's the same again. But if anyone takes it too seriously, it's not too cool."
