A Colorado Springs radio station is facing a fine of $7,000 for airing an 'indecent' version of Eminem's The Real Slim Shady.
A KKMG-FM listener made a complaint to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC said that the version played by the radio station contained "unmistakable offensive sexual references".
The station has not yet paid the fine and is considering what to do, they have thirty days to respond to the complaint.
Cat Collins, the programme director for KQKS-FM said, "Virtually every pop, Top 40 station played that song...That was a number one record - the kind of record that stations played 65 to 70 times a week."
The FCC said that it was indecent and still had some expletives, as well as innuendoes about violent misogyny and graphic sex. They also said that it violated a ban on airing patently offensive material from 6am to 20pm, when children were most likely to be listening.
The 'edited' version of the track was provided by Interscope (Eminem's record label).
