Finally, we've got the third album from Travis, The Invisible Band. Two years (and two weeks) since the album that really launched the band, The Man Who was released.
The Man Who did get to Number 1, eventually. It took a long time. This album is likely to chart highly in it's first week.
The opener is Sing, the first single to be taken from the album. Very similar to the band's earlier material: melodic, repetitive lyrics etc. very good though. Side (track three) is a definite highlight of the album, sounding like the Happy Mondays meeting the Stone Roses with some fantastic melodies, as with the whole of this album - and all of Travis' material.
Flowers In The Window is a summery sort of record. This is a very radio-friendly track which will probably/should be released as a single. Another highlight.
There's a few acoustic tracks on the album, this, The Cage being one of them. Again, a fantastic melody. It's the same with Safe, Fran sings, "And I feel safe, so safe."
It isn't all like The Man Who however, Last Train is a bit jazzy, still guitar based. The album ends with The Humpty Dumpty Love Song.
There are definitely some good tracks on this album, the highlights being Side and Flowers In The Window. The band could make it a bit more diverse though.
