Marilyn Manson has been charged with sexual assault on a security guard at a concert in Michigan on 30 July.
Manson, real name Brian Warner, is facing a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct and a misdemeanour charge of assault and battery stemming from an incident at the DTE Energy Music Theatre.
The self-appointed God of Fuck allegedly approached twenty-five year old security guard Joshua Keasler from behind wearing only a G-string. The 'shock-rocker' is alleged to have spat of the security guard's head, wrapped his legs around him and rubbed his genital area on Keasler's head and neck.
A statement released by prosecutor David Gorcyca said that Keasler was there for the protection of Manson but he ended up being assaulted by the person he was protecting.
"These acts are sexual and physical assaults on an unsuspecting individual whose job was to protect the performers," Gorcyca said in the statement. "This disgusting display and conduct cannot go unrecognised, and for those reasons these charges were issued."
It seems that the star's UK live shows will go ahead. The message-board on his web site quotes him as saying: "There is no point to this. If they really wanted to see me rot in jail that bad they would have booked me on the thirtieth. This is nothing more than yet another attempt to run Marilyn Manson into the ground. They've done it before and they are going to keep doing it until the day I die. It comes down to love, hate and corruption, and Marilyn Manson thrives on that."
Manson is currently on tour in Japan. He is due to perform at the Carling Weekend on 24 and 26 August and the Gig on the Green festival in Glasgow on 25 August.
