This is former Culture Club frontman Boy George's new mix-album. Its unique selling point is the fact that it doesn't include all of the "standard mix of chartbusting hits we're all so bored of". In the sleeve notes Mr O'Dowd says: "I try to avoid the obvious dance hits because there are enough dance compilations full of them."
The title, BoyGeorgeDj.com refers to his newly-launched website: BoyGeorgeDj.com.
The first CD contains "progressive, tribal pumpers". These are less 'tune-based' if that's the right word. The second CD is more 'Ibiza', it opens with a remix of EMF's Unbelievable - this is the only track on the album that I have previously heard of.
I'm already well into the album and haven't noticed any track changes, so it is obviously mixed very well.
George has mixed this album superbly. And he's not included the likes of Spiller etc.
He has included some 'old-school' tracks such as Another One Bites The Dust (by Clint Eastwood and General Saint).
The title is obviously a plug for his new website from which you can buy the album for £14.99, and if you are one of the first five hundred you will get a free poster.
Excellent mixing though and the tracks he has chosen do work. This isn't just your traditional mix-album.
