The Latin Grammy Awards, which were due to take place on 11 September, have now officially been cancelled.
A statement released to Music Goes On by the event's organisers says that it is "simply impossible to reschedule a live, international show of this magnitude".
"We all are emotionally devastated by recent events," it continued. "We appreciate everyone's patience and support through this very difficult time."
The full statement reads as follows:
The Recording Academy and Latin Recording Academy, after careful consideration and days of deliberations with our strategic partners CBS, Cossette Productions, venue operators, music directors, talent and travel coordinators, security specialists and everyone else involved in producing the 2nd Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards telecast regrettably must report that it is simply impossible to reschedule a live, international show of this magnitude. We all are emotionally devastated by recent events, as is everyone, and we're disappointed that we will not be able to give this year's deserving nominees their chance to show the world what we already know about them - that they are world-class musical artists. We currently are determining the best way to award the winners their Latin GRAMMYs and will be making an announcement regarding this very soon. We appreciate everyone's patience and support through this very difficult time.
On 11 September a statement was released to Music Goes On saying that organisers' "thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and everyone who has been impacted by these horrific events".
