Get Up is the second single to be taken from Bombay-born, London-based multi-instrumentalist duo Badmarsh and Shri's Signs album. Popular with the likes of Pete Tong and Tall Paul, the track is a successful part of the pair's live set.
It features UK Apache twisting James Brown's infamous "get on up" line, in a ragga/hip-hop style, with a rapped replacement for "like a sex machine". The chorus is also reminiscent of DJ Luck & MC Neat's A Little Bit Of Luck, remember that?
The track is not just pure garage, instead it's garage mixed with hip-hop, funk, ragga and maybe even soul. It's good stuff from a genre that doesn't normally come up with good stuff.
